St. Flannan’s College
Project Brief
TruScan was asked to undertake the task of laser scanning the main building of St Flannan’s College. The school is working on the following items:
Feasibility study for expansion
Listed building maintenance
Re-purposing of existing structures
The consulting engineer advised that existing plans appeared to be inaccurate and showed different heights/levels, so we were asked to scan these areas and produce anup to date Revit model for the engineer to work with.
Our Approach
As this school has in excess of 1,300 students attending each day, scanning most areas of the school presented a challenge. In collaboration with the principal, we agreed on the most suitable times for scanning so as not to disrupt the pupils learning, respect staff and pupil privacy and also to achieve the best scan results possible.
TruScan arrived on site at 06:00 am and worked late into the evening. In total, the scanning phase took 14hrs on-site taking 59 scans, collects 4.8billion laser shots using a Leica RTC360.
